The Hybrid Approach: Balancing Summer Baseball Training and Performance with Connected Performance

The debate over whether to train or play during summer baseball season has been a hot topic for the past decade. At Connected Performance, we understand the importance of both training and performing, and we've found a solution that allows our athletes to excel in both areas. Our hybrid approach to summer baseball training and performance can transform your game and help you develop your arsenal.

The summertime can be a challenging period for pitchers. On one hand, training is crucial to improving your skills and developing your stuff. On the other hand, game performance is what ultimately matters when it comes to winning, receiving opportunities, and advancing to the next level. At Connected Performance, we've seen both sides of the argument, and we believe that a hybrid approach is the best way to balance training and performance during summer baseball season. In this blog post, we'll explore the benefits of our approach and share success stories from our athletes.

The Benefits of a Hybrid Approach:

At Connected Performance, our hybrid approach to summer baseball training and performance is designed to provide the best of both worlds. By incorporating both training and live game performance, our athletes can improve their skills and develop their stuff while still performing at a high level in games. Just like programming our athletes for the fall and spring season, our coaches modify the athletes schedule around their outings. During the week they'll still be able to develop their strength, and mobility while eliminating any physical or mechanical deficiencies. Here are some of the key benefits of our hybrid approach:

  1. Improved Skill Development:

Training during the summer months is essential for improving your skills and developing your stuff. Velocity development is not exclusive to just pulldowns, long toss, and throwing a plyo as hard as you can. Elite performance comes down to a pitcher's timing, sequencing, and synergy. Although those methods listed may help, they're just a small piece of the puzzle. We've seen some of our athletes increase their velocity without ever performing one of those routines. Our personalized training programs are designed to help you build strength, improve mechanics, and increase velocity. By incorporating training into your summer routine, you can develop your skill set and while focusing on what matters most: competing.

  1. Live Game Experience:

Have you ever played with that guy who looks amazing in bullpens and live at bats but when he gets in the game he looks like a totally different person? Maybe that's been you. It's a double edged sword because everyone knows he has the skillset to perform at a high level but he needs to in game reps to figure it out. However, in a 40 game season coaches can't keep putting these type of athletes out there if they're not performing. Playing games during the summer is crucial for gaining experience and developing feel necessary to perform at a high level. Our hybrid approach allows our athletes to get live game experience while still receiving personalized training and support from our coaches who have gone through this exact same process.

  1. Recovery and Nutrition on the Road:

During the season is when we typically see athletes breakdown and get injured. This is typically due to how they're recovery and taking care of their body. It's tough to maintain their strength, sleep, and nutrition while on the road especially on a tight budget. At Connected Performance, we prioritize ensuring out athletes understand how to hit their caloric goals and take care of their body during a season to perform at their best. By incorporating proper rest, nutrition, and recovery into our training programs, we can help our athletes avoid injuries and stay healthy throughout the summer season.

  1. Implementation of Our Tech:

Success Stories:

At Connected Performance, we've seen firsthand how our hybrid approach can transform athletes' games. Here are a few success stories from our athletes:
